One of my clients who works a 9 to 5 job aspired to start a side hustle and be more productive at night. However, he was often too tired at night to make the time for his business. Before he met me he was spending 4 hours every night playing video games and watching TV to unwind. After working with me, he is now investing in real estate, Forex trading, and is officially calling himself a side hustler. Here’s a snippet of his testimonial after completing my Reclaim Your Time Program:

“The Reclaim Your Time program has changed the way I structure my days and how productive I can be. Within just 6 weeks I was able to turn around bad practices that I’ve been doing for years. I can officially say I have a side hustle because of this.”

How we spend our evening is very important especially when you work a full time job and are seeking supplemental income. I am by no means saying watching Netflix is bad. I spend time watching Netflix most weekends. I’m encouraging you to watch less Netflix and spend more time doing more meaningful things that align with your goals. Here are 20 productive things you can do at night instead of watching Netflix.

1. Journal

I love to reflect on my day. Sometimes we forget to reflect on all the progress we’ve made. Reflecting on your day can include answering a couple of questions in your journal or talking to a loved one about your day. Here are the questions I use to reflect every day:

  1. What went well today?
  2. What didn’t go so well?
  3. What am I going to do tomorrow to improve my day?
  4. What are three things I love about myself?
  5. What are three things I’m grateful for?
2. Take a course in something you’re interested in

Below are a couple of examples but there are various courses online and there’s so much you can learn just on YouTube alone.

3. Listen to a podcast

Some of my favorites are linked here

4. Read a book

I’ve been getting so much reading done. For some book ideas click here. If you’d rather listen to one, click here and check out audible’s selection.

5. Learn a language

There’s so many free language learning apps. I’ve been using Duolingo to practice my Spanish and Dutch.

6. Write down 3 tasks you want to accomplish the next day

By this I mean actual meaningful tasks that will bring you closer to achieving your goals, not tedious things you have to get done like brushing your teeth.

7. Work on a hobby

Take some time to draw, sew, do arts and crafts, practice an instrument, whatever your favorite hobby is.

8. Mediate or do yoga

Taking a moment to be silent and fully present is scientifically proven to increase your productivity. Your brain needs rest!

9. Take a long bath and treat your skin with a face mask
10. Write down things you’re grateful for

I used to not see the point in this. When my therapist first suggested I do a gratitude list, I complained and struggled to write the list. That was a really alarming moment for me, I couldn’t believe that I struggled to realize the good in my life. That’s when I knew I had to keep doing this gratitude list daily. Now it’s a part of my morning routine and it makes me feel so happy and grounded.

11. Create a bucket list
12. Declutter your home
13. Do a light workout like yoga or go for a walk
14. Spend time with your family and pets (without electronics)

15. Work on your business

If you aspire to start a business or if you have a business already, set intentional time to work on it as well as learn more about your industry. I love to read articles, listen to podcasts, and listen to YouTube videos to constantly be learning more about my industry.

16. Plan a future trip

Anybody else love researching new places and planning an itinerary for fun? I sure do.

17. Update your resume

This is a great way to keep track of new skills you’re learning and what you’ve accomplished within the year.

18. Listen to music and have a dance party
19. Color in an adult coloring book
20. Prep for the next day

Plan out your meals, outfit, jewelry and list of what you’d like to accomplish to set your day up with intention instead of confusion.

Hope this makes your night more productive! If you’re seeking one-on-one guidance with managing your time better and getting more done, schedule a call with me here.
