How To Earn Cash Back On Things You Already Buy

We all like shopping in some capacity, whether it’s clothing, electronics, groceries, or home decor. We have to shop to maintain our lifestyle. There are so many amazing apps nowadays that can reward us for the shopping we’re already going to do—at no extra cost. Ready to receive cash back on most of your online purchases and even some select in-store purchases?

How To Start Earning Cash Back

YAY! Okay, so start off by downloading Rakuten. Click here to sign up with my link. If you sign up with my link, you’ll receive $10 cash back after you spend $25, which is about one Lyft ride, a product at Sephora, or Target. Essentially, it’s an amount of money you’d be spending anyway so you might as well receive cash back from it. After you’ve downloaded the app, create a login. Next browse all the stores. There are online store and in-store options. You can even search for specific products, stores or categories. This app is user friendly and very easy to use. When you’re ready to shop, click the store through the app and Rakuten will direct you to that retailer’s site. Then shop as you normally would. After your purchase is completed, check your Rakuten account to see how much cash back you earned. (It may take a couple business days for your cash back to be processed.) Make sure to set up how you want to be paid. You can either get paid through PayPal or check.

If you also want to be able to shop on your desktop, install the Rakuten browser extension. If you’re on a retailer’s website that offers cash back, the extension will display a button notifying you. In addition to earning cash back, Rakuten also finds online coupons and promo codes you can try out to earn additional discounts.

Some Of My Favorite Stores To Receive Cash Back With

Here are some of my favorite stores to receive cash back on:

Amazon – Up to 5% cash back

EBay – Up to 2% cash back

Macys – Up to 6% cash back

Target – 1% cash back

Walmart – 5% cash back

Ulta Beauty – 4% cash back

Seamless – Up to 7% cash back

Sephora – 8% cash back

And thousands more…

The percentages listed above represent how much money you’ll get back for your purchases. For instance, if you were to spend $100 online at Amazon and the cash back percentage was 10% at the time of your purchase, your Rakuten account would be credited with $10 (10% of $100) once the transaction was processed. All you have to do is shop like normal and let the cash back hit your account. Rakuten will pay out your cash back every 3 months as long as your balance is at least $5.

Is This A Scam?

Absolutely not. Many people often wonder how sites like Rakuten can afford to provide so much cash back. It’s because they work with affiliate networks that represent online retailers. Rakuten receives a negotiated percentage of the purchase price for referring new consumers. Some of that money goes to the shopper and the site keeps the rest.

A couple cons to the site are the cash back amounts do vary greatly. You may not receive the same cash back amounts weekly, so make sure to pay close attention to different deals. Also, make sure your item being purchased qualifies for the cash back. Sometimes items like books or electronics don’t apply. Also, the cash back will pile up for 3 months before Rakuten sends you your money. So be patient and await your reward.

How Can I Further Maximize My Cash Back?

If you want to really maximize your account, sign up for their credit card. The credit card provides you with even more cash back. With the Rakuten credit card, you earn an extra 3% cash back on all qualifying purchases.

This means that if Amazon typically offers 10% cash back, you would get 13% cash back on qualifying Amazon purchases when using your Rakuten credit card. You also get 1% cash back on all other purchases that are made anywhere Visa is accepted. On top of that when you sign up, you’ll get a $10 welcome bonus on your first $25 or higher purchase. You can only earn cash back while using Rakuten so make sure to use the app or browser extension when making your purchases.

Happy Shopping!
